KASTAAR in A2 steel with Grey & Toxic Green scales

CHF400.00

“KASTAAR” is the biggest and strongest outdoor knife I make. If you find yourself fighting with grizzly bears regularly, then this is your knife. The 6.5 mm thick A2 steel blade will baton wood, skin bison, stab car bonnets and slice pizza when asked to. The belt carry Kydex sheath will protect you from the knife and is easy to clean. The G10 glass fibre scales have been sandblasted for grip in wet conditions. The scales are removable with a Torx 20 screwdriver.  Mind you, this is not a stainless steel knife. It’s made of a high carbon steel and it needs to be maintained properly or it will rust. I recommend giving the knife a coating of oil after every adventure. If you’re not familiar with carbon steel, this is not a knife for you. Carbon steel has many advantages: it’s though, holds an edge very well and is easy to sharpen in the field. The full tang blade has been gun blued to protect it against corrosion. This is not a permanent coating and it will wear with heavy usage, as all coatings do. If you take care of this tool it will last you a lifetime. It takes +- 15 hours to make a knife like this, not counting the heat treatment cycles. The heat treatment of the A2 steel takes 12 hours to complete, resulting in a hardness of 62/63 HRC.

Specs:

  • Blade Thickness: 6.5 mm
  • Blade length: 125 mm
  • Total Length: 265.5 mm
  • High hollow grind
  • Hardness: 62/63 Hrc
  • Steel: A2
  • Handle: G10 grey & toxic green
  • Sheath: Kydex
